Photo Collage 3 Do now
This picture by Miles Donovan is a collage of American politics. The preach principles are very evident in this art piece. Proximity is shown to connect the business men to debt and wall street. The repetition of numbers show how important money is in America. Barack Obama's big figure is an example of emphasis to draw attention to him as president.

1. What is going on in this image? Carefully describe, OBJECTIVELY, what you see.
a. Who are the figures? Describe.
b. Are there any symbols present?
This image shows a car, types of popular foods and drinks, and different types of machines. There are also many attractive women tending to the man. I think the man in the center shows his power in America, while the women off to the side offering drinks are a symbol of America's view on submissive women. All of these pictures are of brands in the mid 1900s.
2. What opinion do you think the artist is trying to convey? Justify your reasoning with the clues offered in the image.
I believe the artist is trying to convey men and women roles in America, while also showing the consumerism taking place globally with American products.

Graphics Do Now Eclectic style
1. The person depicted in this piece of art is John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States. Kennedy impacted American history by calling to action for equal rights, while dealing with the ongoing cuban missile crisis in the cold war. Unfortunately, Kennedy is most known for being the youngest president assassinated at age 46.
2. The space in this picture is very tight and geometric. The artist also uses repetition in JFK's fingers to show the importance of it. This picture as a whole is not realistic. All these real pictures are put together, making them not realistic.
3. The images in the art all relate to Kennedy's presidency. Military helicopters had to do with the increasing military force form the cold war and the Vietnam War. The Coca-Cola sign showed the transnational corporations and Coca-Cola's consumerism around the world. Lastly, the picture of the space craft was used to show Kennedy's expansion of NASA's space program.

Propaganda Do Now
When was this picture created? For what purpose?
Talk about the composition of this image. Use 2 PREACH principles.
This picture was first created in 1916. This was a form of poster propaganda in order to persuade men to take part in World War I and fight for their country. This image uses alignment and proximity to guide the reader's attention to the poster and not be distracted.

Unusual Art Deco
This unusual art deco piece is defined as art deco because of its principles within. For example, its modern and industrious pattern shows that it was an art form inspired from the 1920s. Its contrast with the red vs. soft colors and the simple forms presented make it a true art deco piece. Although different from the usual geometric lines and forms, this piece still represents art deco with smooth lines.

Intro to Art Deco
1) Have you ever seen an image that looks like this? If so, say when. Do you know what this kind of image is called?
I have seen images similar to this in Ms. Lalande's art deco prezi. Pictures of straight buildings were popular to draw. This image is an example of art deco.
2) When do you think this image was created?
This image was probably created around the late 1920's, sometimes called the "roaring 20s", a time where industry and wealth was at its height.
3) Use at least 3 elements of art (line shape space color texture value form) to describe the image.
This picture has a brick texture, distinct and bold graphic lines, and form within the buildings.
